Top Tips for Healthy Holiday Travel

The holiday season is coming up quickly, and for many people that means travelling by plane or train. Unfortunately, these spaces hold a variety of germ hot spots that make it easy for germs to be transmitted from person to person.
Reduce your risk of picking up these germs by following these quick tips from the inventors of PURELL®:
- Practice Good Hand Hygiene
Properly washing your hands is one of the easiest, most cost-effective ways of reducing your risk of catching and spreading harmful bacteria. Be sure to wash your hands before eating, after using the restroom and after coughing or sneezing. Keep a travel-sized bottle of hand sanitizer with you to use if soap and water aren’t available. - Carry Disinfectant Wipes
Use these on germy high-touch surfaces, such as tray tables and arm rests. Keep in mind that aisle seats get touched more, so you may want to give your seat a quick wipe down if you’re in the aisle. - Avoid Touching your Face
Studies have found that people touch their faces more than 3.5 times per hour. Every time people touch their mouth or nose they transfer bacteria and viruses from their hands to their faces. - Avoid Coffee and Tea
The water on planes can contain E. coli, so play it safe and avoid these drinks. - Take your own Pillows and Blankets
Those that are provided are not always cleaned or replaced between flights, so you may want to consider bringing your own to minimize the likelihood of transferring bacteria. - Don’t Read the Magazines
The magazines on planes and trains have likely been touched by many hands. Bring your own reading material to avoid picking up germs.
